The Globe

The globe is an indicator of how much favor you have. Simply type: touch globe and it will generally spin and indicate a measure of spins. It will give single spins from 1 to 10, and then goes by 10's until it gets to 100, at which point it goes in 50 point steps. If you touch it and it's cold, you may type: kneel and then: rub globe and then: kiss globe for the cost of a deed it will give you some favor (approximately 1/2 spin).  As far as I know, this works for Master Globes in other towns as well (if someone wants to test this, please do!)

Being that I recently lost my favor, I got to test the favor per spin system in GemStone IV.  Based on my studies, 1 revolution is 250 levels of favor (based on 27 wind wraiths equaling 7 spins, however, favor may not be 1 LOF x level now. More study is warranted with younger creatures.).

After further research, I have determined that favor is measured in 1000ths. A wind wraith is approximately 250 units of favor. I do believe that the older the critter, the units of favor increase exponentially. This would explain why it takes significantly more kills to step/master when you are a low level character, but a high level character can master in less than ten days. I am also inclined to believe that masters get a "bonus" to the equation. It has been tested (by myself and a few others) that a non-master witnessing a death of an undead that they did not assist in releasing will get significantly less favor, so this is also a factor in the equation, as is group hunting.

You will also find globes on Teras and Icemule (where there is no official Voln Monestary).

The Tapestry

The tapestry will allow you to transport to different locations near Wehnimer's Landing. These currently include: Darkstone lower level (banshees), The Graveyard (inside the main gate), Anwyn Castle (deep in the basement), The Misty Chamber (liches and monks), and the Coastal Cliffs Graveyard (ghosts). You can simply type: rub tapestry to change the location, but you must type: look tapestry before you can enter it. There is no tapestry in the Ta'Vaalor Monestary as of this writing.

The Meditation Room

If you pray in the meditation room as a master, you will receive special messaging as will other people in the room.  To the best of my knowledge, there is no benefit to doing this.
